Technology can have the greatest impact on improving the bottom line. SMS has made a considerable investment in technology and considers this business initiative one of its top priorities.

Billing System -- SMS uses practice management / billing software that has been developed and refined for more than 20 years by a company solely dedicated to medical practice management software. SMS employees work in a Windows 2003 network environment and all have access to the Internet’s research capabilities for medical billing and collections. With these online capabilities, claims follow-up has been enhanced to the point that SMS is able to resolve over 90% of our clients’ claims in less than 60 days. This feature alone can significantly increase cash flow and physician satisfaction for your practice.

Our software uses the AS/400 hardware platform and currently resides on an IBM AS/400 iSeries 810 processor, a platform used by financial institutions worldwide for its database management and security features.

Other billing-related features include coding and compliance software, system edits for clean claims, electronic upload of edited charges, electronic claims submissions and remittance and facility data capture.

Radiology Information System -- SMS can implement a radiology information system (RIS) in your practice that offers scheduling and patient registration, film tracking, integrated transcription, a medical history feature and mammography tracking. Interfaces with PACS are also available. A PC with Internet access is the only requirement to be integrated with our powerful management software. SMS can provide on-site training for your facility as well as classroom training at our corporate office in Oklahoma City.

Security -- SMS has implemented extensive security safeguards for its patient, physician and business information. We have installed Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), firewalls and virus and spy ware prevention software. We have exceeded and documented the HIPAA Security and Sarbanes-Oxley standards and consider this ongoing effort to be a top priority.

Document Imaging -- SMS has document imaging software interfaced to the patient accounts in our billing system. This virtually creates a paperless environment with additional security for your business records, improved document management at SMS and reduced long-term archiving costs.
